Appointments
Below please find a letter from the Practice Manager with regards to patient concerns regarding waiting for an appointment.
Dear Patient,
Firstly I like to apologise for any inconvenience caused and would like to take this opportunity of explaining how our Practice operates.
Oxgate Gardens takes great pride in providing an excellent service to all our patients. This Practice does not treat patients as “time slots”, but as individuals. The health authority states each patient is to be given a time slot of up to 10 minutes. As you know depending on the illness and the emergency 10 minutes is not long enough. The doctor will therefore treat each patient as an individual and their medical condition accordingly.
By providing this excellent service this will invariable mean that patients will be kept waiting. OxgateGardens tries to ensure that a patient is seen quickly however, on occasions this is unavoidable. During these times the surgery would be grateful if you do not take out your frustration on the reception staff whose job is to ensure all patients are given the best NHS service possible.
It is also important that a patient arrives on time because even if the doctor is running late a patient arriving late puts extra pressure on the system and therefore that patient will have to wait until the end of the morning.
The NHS provides an excellent service but it has time constraints. If you feel that a referral to a hospital is taking too long then you always have an option of going private, again please do not take out your frustration on the reception staff.
Please help OxgateGardens provide an excellent service by working with us.
Kind regards
Carolyn Matthews
Practice Manager
Health and Safety
Remember the golden rule: do not open the door to anyone unless identification has been proven.
1. All doctors, pharamcies, district nurses, health care professionals will always telephone first. Arrange a time and day to visit and confirm the name of the person coming to see you.
2. Check identification before opening the door.
3. If in doubt do not open the door and call the doctors surgery.
Thank you. Your health and safety is important to us.
